The Australian Consumer Law (ACL) has introduced some new requirements with respect to warranties against defective Parts supplied from 1 January 2012 in respect of sales to consumers.
Parts sold to consumers may come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Consumers are entitled to a replacement of the parts or a refund of the price for a major failure of the Parts and also compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
Consumers are also entitled to have the Parts repaired or replaced if the Parts fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Full details of your consumer rights may be found at consumerlaw.gov.au
Where consumers have purchased Parts and the manufacturer has also provided a warranty against defects (Manufacturer’s Warranty), that warranty is in addition to the consumer guarantee we provide in relation to the Parts.
